Interactive PowerPoint Assignment As previously mentioned in my last post, I unfortunately did not get the chance to fully complete the assignment but from what I was able to do, I acquired the ability to embed a link in a slide that takes anyone who clicks on it to another slide if my choice. I was using this skill to create a virtual adventure slideshow that showed people how to use Kahoot! in a variety of classes.  My only complaint was that it was a little tedious and I ultimately did not have time to complete it but I did enjoy watching it come together and it was a fun and interactive way to make something that would keep others engaged in the topic I was introducing. Data Collection (Survey) Tools Just this morning, my professor used a survey to obtain feedback from all of her students about their feelings regarding the class and her teaching style so that she could improve our experience in her classroom. In the future, I plan to incorporate data collection tools like surve...

Thoughts on EME 2040 My experience in EME2040 has been really fun. I haven’t been able to take full advantage of the in-person experience just because of life outside of class but when I can attend, it’s a blast. I’m constantly learning new aspects of technology that can be used to help improve my future students experience in my classroom through the use of technology in a variety of ways. I was unaware of most of what we have learned thus far like embedding link, how to use PowerPoint beyond it just being a slideshow and more of an interactive tool to keep students engaged in what is being learned. It’s been a pleasure participating in class and getting the information I need to be the best teacher I can be when the time comes.  Open Educational Resources  Open educational resources are places or sites where students or anyone looking to learn something can do so at low or no cost to them. The purpose of OERs is to make education easily accessible to all and less of a...

My Experience with Web Design Through completing the Web Design assignment, I learned that it’s not that hard to create a website when using tools like square space and weebly that provide you with the resources to get the job done. I was also able to put my knowledge of CRAAP to use in making sure that my webpage not only displayed the information that I wanted to share but also in a way that was aesthetically pleasing and easy on the eyes. I believe that this is one of the most important aspects of creating a web page because people are drawn to easy-to-read and navigate sites so putting an emphasis on the layout of your website to make it appealing to people is a good way to boost your audience’s engagement with the site. This what I kept in mind when making my webpage ! Additionally, I was finally able to figure out how to create an embedded link. Im more of a URL girl myself and I hate having to figure out hyperlinks and embedding but it brought me peace to finally know how ...

For this assignment, I visited a few school webpages and one of them was the school webpage Mainland High, the high school that I attended prior to coming to Florida State University. This page did not have a designated link to resources for teachers, only parents and students as well as a brief listing of the faculty and staff. Florida State’s school webpage however offers a page dedicated to providing faculty with the tools and resources as supplements to their teaching. Here, faculty members are able to find resources and information regarding where they are in their career as a faculty member and how to advance forward to receive tenure in the long run. You can see the homepage with the links without having to login and some of the links offer public information as well. As a prospective teacher, I am studying how current faculty use technology and the World Wide Web in their classrooms to their advantage. School webpages like that of Florida State University’s is a great example ...

Diigo for me is pretty cool, I like the features where we can add sticky notes and the web browser extension to help us bookmark things in webpages as we find them. The only con for me is that the the layout and design feels a little dated and there’s not much about the site that pops as far as design goes. I feel like there’s more that could be done in that area of the software but I also think that as we create more and more bookmarks, we can make them lively and colorful with different fonts and adding images to bring the pages more to life. I love blogging, I like it better through the form of video but I have always been really into writing and sharing my experiences to help others. I was even thinking about starting a blog this year for passive income and using it to discuss the tough times that life encompasses that we don’t always have the ability to share on social media and build a community of people sharing how they get through tough times as well. I think it’s so nice to m...

My experience with Twitter has been good for the most part, though there are highly political times where it becomes too overwhelming to use with raw footage of violent acts and stories of abuse everywhere you swipe. Regardless of that, I mostly interact with my friends and random people who like the same music as me. We sometimes get into debates and discussions on certain projects and express our anticipation for music to come from our favorite artists. This is beneficial for me because it keeps me up to date on the latest of things from celebrity news and new albums to the latest happenings around the world. I believe that Twitter will be beneficial in the future by acting as a way that people can touch on all topics and find out about what’s going on in other parts of the world without it being censored or limited. The digital divide impacts students who do not have consistent access to technology. This means that although they may have internet and computer access to excel at scho...

In this blog post, I will be discussing common standards for American schools. The ELA technology standards I decided to focus on are the ones for Kindergarten since that is the grade level I am looking to teach. The standards for Kindergarten are to introduce them to digital resources that allow them to produce and publish written documents and comparing them to their peers’ works. I personally do feel as though I can implement this standard into teaching as I am incredibly familiar with writing digitally through MS Word and other word processing programs. The tool I chose to speak on from the CPALMS kindergarten toolkit was the visual arts standard on discussing personal choices in creating art. I would use this in my classroom to give my students an opportunity to get exposed to art and art interpretations so that they can begin to understand artists. I would also use this standard to allow them to get creative and make art of their own during class so that we can discuss why they m...
