Blog Post 4
In this blog post, I will be discussing common standards for American schools. The ELA technology standards I decided to focus on are the ones for Kindergarten since that is the grade level I am looking to teach. The standards for Kindergarten are to introduce them to digital resources that allow them to produce and publish written documents and comparing them to their peers’ works. I personally do feel as though I can implement this standard into teaching as I am incredibly familiar with writing digitally through MS Word and other word processing programs.
The tool I chose to speak on from the CPALMS kindergarten toolkit was the visual arts standard on discussing personal choices in creating art. I would use this in my classroom to give my students an opportunity to get exposed to art and art interpretations so that they can begin to understand artists. I would also use this standard to allow them to get creative and make art of their own during class so that we can discuss why they made the decisions they made during the creation of it and comparing their art to that of other students so that they can understand that everyone, even when doing so of the same things are different and alike through some of the choices that they make. This would be a lesson critical to their personal development to understand the decisions and choices of others and creative learning to show them that there is more than just one way to learn a lesson.
As a teacher, internet searching is a vital part of finding information that will be useful in creating a lesson plan. The skill that we learned this week that I will be using the most will likely be being aware of the copyright issues the could arise if I someone else’s content inappropriately. I would also use what I learned about copyright to protect my own work form inappropriate used. A skill I wouldn’t use would be embedding a link, I just feel like regular linking is simple and easy and gets the job done.
