Interactive PowerPoint Assignment
As previously mentioned in my last post, I unfortunately did not get the chance to fully complete the assignment but from what I was able to do, I acquired the ability to embed a link in a slide that takes anyone who clicks on it to another slide if my choice. I was using this skill to create a virtual adventure slideshow that showed people how to use Kahoot! in a variety of classes.
My only complaint was that it was a little tedious and I ultimately did not have time to complete it but I did enjoy watching it come together and it was a fun and interactive way to make something that would keep others engaged in the topic I was introducing.
Data Collection (Survey) Tools
Just this morning, my professor used a survey to obtain feedback from all of her students about their feelings regarding the class and her teaching style so that she could improve our experience in her classroom. In the future, I plan to incorporate data collection tools like surveys in a similar way. I want my students to have autonomy in the classroom and be able to let me know how I can better assist them in their learning process. These surveys would be helpful in allowing them to decide which day is best to have assignments due and what kind of assignments they would like to have or how they want to study whether that be independent study time in class or as a group with Kahoot or Quizlet. I definitely think these tools will allow me to build a good relationship with my student and have an accommodating classroom environment.
Reviewing My Classmate’s Blog Posts
The most interesting thing I found from reading my classmates blog posts was how useful they found the wiki pages to be. I personally hadn’t had the same feelings being that I have always been steered away from things like Quora and Wikipedia and I found that the sites’ layout was a bit dated for today’s age. However, my classmates listed several ways that it could still be useful for K-12 students in providing them a space to share and edit age and school appropriate information. This is something I didn’t consider in reviewing it but in hindsight, I definitely think that it can be of good use for teachers looking for a platform to supplement their teaching.
My Experience with Tech Flexes and Badges
I haven’t had the time to do any tech flexes or earn any badges yet but I do plan to go through and do a few in the coming weeks. I really like how much more I can learn about making better, more aesthetic, attention grabbing and interactive content with the tools and skills provided to me in this class. Being able to get badges for accomplishing these goals as well is something I enjoy as well because it’s a reflection of what I’m able to do once I’ve mastered another skill.
Tech Related Skills
The next skill that I want to learn is how to get better at customizing and designing posts for blogs, Instagram stories and YouTube videos. I’ll do so by applying what I’ve learned about CRAAP layouts and bitmoji to make more fun and interactive posts. I want to make sure that they have plenty pictures and colors to grab my audience and future students attention. This will get and keep them engaged with what I post.
