My experience with Twitter has been good for the most part, though there are highly political times where it becomes too overwhelming to use with raw footage of violent acts and stories of abuse everywhere you swipe. Regardless of that, I mostly interact with my friends and random people who like the same music as me. We sometimes get into debates and discussions on certain projects and express our anticipation for music to come from our favorite artists. This is beneficial for me because it keeps me up to date on the latest of things from celebrity news and new albums to the latest happenings around the world. I believe that Twitter will be beneficial in the future by acting as a way that people can touch on all topics and find out about what’s going on in other parts of the world without it being censored or limited.

The digital divide impacts students who do not have consistent access to technology. This means that although they may have internet and computer access to excel at school, they may not have the opportunity to do so at home due to a lack of these resources. As a teacher in a low income community, I could change my teaching methods around to limit how much students will need to rely on technology for classroom success or I may have to find ways to vouch for and help students like this by granting them rentals on internet devices and tablets or computers at little to no costs to take home and complete assignments. This will ensure that at the very least, they have that resource both inside and outside of the classroom.

In my future classroom, I want to implement canvas and zoom or advanced versions that combine both academic softwares. Although we have come to depend on these programs due to the pandemic, I believe that there is a sense of ease that comes with access to uploading class contents for everyone of your students to see at anytime as well as having the ability for them to upload assignments in all types of ways from pictures of completed assignments to pdfs and docx files. I also believe that Zoom can be used to accommodate for students having mental health concerns or issues that may keep them from feeling comfortable attending class in person and give them another option to learn class content. I think this is a great way to get homeschooled/online-schooled kids involved in classrooms as well.

  1. I liked the idea of incorporating Zoom into in-person classes to accommodate students with diverse needs. One of my classmates lives in another country, but we took the same class together. It was actually before the pandemic. My professor used Zoom in class, so that the student could join us synchronously despite the geographical distance. Indeed, you are correct in that I believe it is beneficial to have such flexibility for students with special needs and consideration :)
