Thoughts on EME 2040

My experience in EME2040 has been really fun. I haven’t been able to take full advantage of the in-person experience just because of life outside of class but when I can attend, it’s a blast. I’m constantly learning new aspects of technology that can be used to help improve my future students experience in my classroom through the use of technology in a variety of ways. I was unaware of most of what we have learned thus far like embedding link, how to use PowerPoint beyond it just being a slideshow and more of an interactive tool to keep students engaged in what is being learned. It’s been a pleasure participating in class and getting the information I need to be the best teacher I can be when the time comes.

Open Educational Resources

Open educational resources are places or sites where students or anyone looking to learn something can do so at low or no cost to them. The purpose of OERs is to make education easily accessible to all and less of a commodity that limits who has access to inform. An example of this is ZLibrary, a website that offers PDF online versions of textbooks commonly used by college students for free. Me and a lot of my other friends, who are broke college students, use this site to save money of expensive textbooks and to prevent wasted money on books that aren’t used. Not to mention it also saves trees!

Interactive PowerPoint Assignment

I didn’t get the chance to fully complete the assignment but from what I was able to do, I acquired the ability to embed a link in a slide that takes anyone who clicks on it to another slide if my choice. I was using this skill to create a virtual adventure slideshow that showed people how to use Kahoot! in a variety of classes. It was a little tedious and I didn’t have time to complete it but I did enjoy watching it come together and it was a fun and interactive way to make something that would keep others engaged in the topic I was introducing.
