- So far, I have had a pretty decent experience with Microsoft Word. It’s my go-to word processing and document creator for when I need to write out anything for an assignment or I need to organize a set of ideas. A lot of my friends prefer google docs because it offers a more easily navigating to group projects but even then, I personally like to use MS Word just because I’m much more used to how things are set up on there, I find it easier to complete documents with that program instead.
- The most important ISTE Standard for Educators for me was the standard on learning. I feel to be the most effective teacher, you first have to learn general knowledge and then you have to learn the aspects of a great instructor. As technology advances and children become more and more use to getting access to these advanced gadgets and softwares, you have to constantly expose yourself to learning how to use these new things and advance your technological skills as technology advances so that you can speak the language of upcoming generations. This will allow you to teach them through the use of technology and programs they are most familiar with seeing in their everyday lives from cellphones and laptops to editing and coding
- At first, I did agree because I know that in my family, though I feel more like a “digital immigrant” because grew to become accustomed with the advancing of modern technology, my younger siblings had the newest devices from birth and all they know is a world centered around access to these things. However, I’m now aware that this is a common thing in the western world and well-developed countries but in less fortunate companies where these devices, software and services are relatively expensive and inaccessible, even children born in the generation deemed to be “digital natives” may have little to no knowledge of a life centered around advanced technology. I feel like where I can easily detach from the use of social media and technology because I can remember a life without it, they may not be able to because their lives literally revolve around the technology they have access to.
- I have earned badges in Girls Scouts, it was the Orange County troupe. I didn’t really have to share them, everyone got their own individual badge for whatever task they ended up completing to achieve it. One badge was simply for becoming a committed member of a troupe, paying dues and getting the sash for the badges to go onto as accolades. You could get others for things like selling a certain amount of cookies, mentoring as an ambassador or attending certain events.
